Katie has been brought up in a family who would break out in song around a piano on every occasion or on long car journeys. She has always had a love for music of all genres and a special interest in harmony lines.
Katie has achieved her Grade 5 theory of music qualification along with Grade 5 piano, Grade 3 clarinet and GCSE music but she decided to take the less academic route and has enjoyed regularly singing backing vocals for bands, joining the Pop Voices choir in 2019. She has also been known to stalk her brother and wing backstage passes as they have supported amazing acts over the years including 5 years in the well-known British band ‘James’.
Being from the North East, Pop Voices has become a second family to Katie and she has jumped at as many opportunities to perform with them, be it on stage singing solo at the Birmingham Town Hall, recording at Abbey Road Studios to Carnegie Hall in New York.
She has been a choir leader with Pop Voices since 2021 and absolutely loves guiding the choir through their voice parts and then hearing it all come together. Of course, the choir nights out are always fun too!
Outside of choir she loves to travel and has been lucky enough to visit every continent. Katie is a busy Mum of two and with her husband, instilling this love for travel as they drag them around the world at every opportunity. Her daughter Ella is a keen member of The Pop Voices Youth Choir and so they get to perform together with the choir.
Katie says that the best thing she ever did was try a taster session we Pop Voices …. she has never looked back! Katie leads the Redditch choir and very often covers other groups when needed. Her warm, positive and friendly nature ensures that our members feel comfortable, included and able to just give it a go!
